About us

About Care Close to Home

Care Close to Home is an independent directory that helps families find in-home care for someone they love. Where a state publishes a license roster we check every agency against it, everywhere else we rank agencies on their public reviews and say so, and we never sell a ranking or a higher spot.

Why we built it

Finding home care usually happens in a hurry: a family realizes Mom can no longer manage alone, and someone hands over a list of agencies with no way to tell which are any good. We check agencies against the official state license roster where one is published, show the license number and the date we checked it, rank agencies on their public reviews, and add plain-English guides on cost and how to choose, so families can call a few good agencies instead of guessing.

Who runs Care Close to Home

Care Close to Home was founded by Nathaniel Robert. Questions about a listing, our method or a guide reach him and the team through our contact page.

How we stay independent

Every listing follows the same published method, whether it comes from a state license roster or from public reviews. Agencies cannot pay to be added or to change their rank. We make money from clearly labeled Featured, Sponsored and City Partner placements. See our advertising disclosure.

Editorial standards

Our guides on costs, paying for care and choosing an agency are written from primary sources: state regulators, Medicaid.gov, the VA and the CareScout Cost of Care Survey for prices. We cite where numbers come from, update guides when rules change, and show the date each page was last updated. Our content is general information, not medical, legal or financial advice.

Where the data comes from

In states that publish a roster, agency names, addresses and license numbers come from the state's public list of licensed home care agencies, and we show the roster date on every listing. In the other states there is no usable roster, so agencies come from public reviews on sites such as Google and Caring.com, and their pages say we have not verified a license. Cost figures come from the CareScout 2025 Cost of Care Survey. We re-check rosters and reviews on a regular schedule; here is how we rank.

Corrections

If something about an agency is wrong, or a guide is out of date, tell us. We check every report against the state roster or the review source and correct confirmed errors within one business day.
